n a country that is struggling with under-employment and social injustices, vulnerable women in Ecuador are often led down the dark and lonely path of prostitution.
In a state of desperation and poverty, Janeth became one of the 40 million women throughout Latin America who sell their bodies on the streets.
One night a man approached her and they agreed on a price then proceeded to the hotel. But Janeth noticed something was different about this man.
“He sat down on the bed and said, ‘I only want you to listen to me. I want to tell you something very important about your life’,” says Janeth. “He took a package out of a bag, gave it to me and told me to open it. As I opened it, I saw it was a book called The Gospel of John.
“He spoke to me about the love of God,” remembers Janeth. “I asked him, how could God love someone as immoral as me?”
The man, trained by Bible League, presented the love-filled, life-saving Gospel message to this deeply wounded woman.
“Just a few months ago, my life changed completely,” says Janeth. “I never again returned to the business I hated. That night, I began to live for God.”
Today, Janeth shares the freedom of the Gospel and God’s love with other women on the street.
Around the world, millions of women are trapped in the complicated web of prostitution. They see no other solution for providing for their children and themselves. They enter unwillingly, believing it's their only hope for survival.
You can help more women like Janeth hear of God’s love and mercy.
